Let's face it. The Tahitian islands are all about relaxation. The Polynesian lifestyle assures that. With the exception of just a few sports activities, people in Tahiti Polynesia just aren't in a hurry, no matter what they're doing!
The Island of Huahine definately suits this classic, laid-back attitude. Perhaps more so here than any other Society Island, the sun drenched tropical beaches and their accompanying heat cry out for sun worshippers by day, and recuperation from that heat and sun in the evenings.
A great place to get away from the stresses of life, Huahine is your personal relaxation oasis. Breathe in deeply the South Pacific air as you gently sway in your hammock. Read
a book. Sample the polynesian cuisine choices of the island's restaurants. Perhaps you'll want to take a tour of some of the local sights or simply
kick back and marvel at your peaceful surroundings...
This page is here to help plant the seeds of RELAXATION in your vacation and perhaps assist you in choosing or pre-planning a specific activity on Huahine island.
TST makes choosing your favorite island activity easy! If you want MORE choices, simply check out our other "To Do" pages: WATERSPORTS, ISLAND FUN, ADVENTURES, RECREATION & GAMES, or SHOPPING, SERVICES & RESTAURANTS.

MOTU HANGOUT/ PICNIC
One of the most relaxing things we can think of doing on any island is to simply kick
back and have a picnic on a deserted island. In French Polynesia, we call
these islands Motus.
With a little planning, and the help of a few professionals
who make it their business, its easy in French Polynesia to experience these
wonderful picnic activities.

NAUTIQUE
PO. Box 265- 98 731 Fare- HUAHINE
Telephone- (689) 68 83 15 , Fax- (689) 68 82 15
This is our most popular activity on the island! Private picnics on a local,
white sand motu... We'll take our comfortable boat out, drop anchor, and "set
the table" in the soothing warm, clear water.
We'll sip Polynesian fruit
drinks or cocktails, and eat delicious fresh foods from around the island.
Meals are suited to taste. After or before the meal, feel free to go snorkeling
or swimming or just walk around freely.
This is one day you'll be sure and never forget! Free pickups from your hotel.
BUS & MINI VAN TOURS
As on the other islands, Huahine's
bus and mini van tours specialize in taking you to the most popular and
commonly seen attractions on the islands. These relaxing tours are a great way of getting an
overview of the islands. As a rule, they don't take too long, and there's usually at least one knowledgeable guidelike local describing the details and history of what you are seeing: ancient maraes and other archeological and cultural sights, vanilla and pearl farms, sacred eels, (oooh), etc.
Here's a list of bus and minivan tour operators on Huahine:

SUNSET
CRUISES
Enjoying
a sunset cruise of Huahine's lagoon is definately a relaxing activity
in French Polynesia. This
is what Huahine is all about... enjoying the peace and tranquility of
the South Pacific from the water...
Typically, sunset cruises
depart for the lagoon around 4:00 or so, in plenty of time to enjoy the
spectacular colors of the setting sun.
You'll sail or cruise around
as you sip Tahitian cocktails and learn about the history and facts of
the Tahitian islands, and in particular Huahine. 2 or 3 hours later, you'll
be back in your hotel room with a wonderful memory of Polynesia.
Here's a company that specializes
in custom sunset cruises on the island of Huahine:

NIGHTLIFE
/ ENTERTAINMENT
Similiar to ALL Society Islands, (with the one exception being Tahiti), the nightlife on Huahine can most accurately be described as "dead". This is just a fact of the islands... As of yet, they (the Society Islands) haven't seemed to catch on to the fact that some kind of evening activities or nightlife could actually work to their advantage (they all want more tourists)..., but then again, it may be all in how you look at it... No nightlife means quiet evenings and solitude, and that certainly suits the flavor of this wonderful island perfectly!
For those of you who insist on trying,
the best place we know where to send you are the larger hotel's bars
(go to the "To Stay" section and read the details under their descriptions), or our favorite, the Restaurant
Mauarii. Also, if its not to late, you can check out the restaurants
in downtown Fare, like the Chez Guynette.
(open until only about 10:00 pm)
PRIVATE
TOURS & CUSTOM LAGOON CRUISES
Another
popular relaxing activity on Huahine island is taking one of it's lagoon
sightseeing cruises and tours options. These range from all inclusive
catamaran tours to renting your own powerboat.
Please see our Lagoon Excursions section
for all the details and choices.
